About me and about the site

The owner's first college job was as a tour guide, guiding American school groups round the Europe with a now sadly defunct educational tours company.

He got paid to see the most fabulous sites in Europe, but gave it all up when he thought he’d better get a ‘proper’ job. He often dolefully wonders why he bothered.

He is a regular guy. He would like a dog – a Spaniel – and keeps meaning to write a novel, but he hasn’t quite decided what it would be about yet. He drinks a lot of tea and then leaves the cups around the house, which irritates his long-suffering girlfriend no end.

Oh – and he’s a near-obsessive about getting the best deal… and passing what he’s found out on to you!

About the site

Tmoneysavinglondon site logohis site's packed with ways visitors to London save a heap of money. Opinionated and accurate, every single thing on MoneySavingLondon.com is what I think. Not what some big corporation has bought my opinion. Not because I get paid for it at all (I don't). Because I got so irritated at people taking advantage of tourists that I wanted to do something about it – to share my expertise of living and working in London. And to make the whole travel experience more fun and less worrying for everyone.

It’s about value, not price.

Why pay more for something? Why pay for something you don’t really want? You wouldn’t spend without thinking about it at home, so why abroad?

You can either save money or spend money on cool things you wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford – making your trip more enjoyable; giving you the chance to do things you’d never have thought about.

When I don’t know something, I say I don’t know. My only concern is to save you money. If you haven’t looked at the site yet, then let’s get started!

I’m always on your side, cutting through the advertising noise to tell you what’s REALLY the best deal! And hopefully that will let you have even more fun for your buck while you're in the great city of London.

How is this site funded?

Keeping this website accurate costs.  Opening hours change, places shut, prices move. Out of date information is almost worse than none at all, so every article is constantly updated and reviewed. That takes a lot of time – which I give for nothing – and money.

Regretfully I've included very limited advertising on the site. I don’t control what goes there – but some of the products may be of use to you.

You may also wonder why some links are in bold. Clicking on those helps the site if you go on to buy something. You pay the same whatever, and those paying links never, ever ever affect what I write. If you enjoy the site buying through those links costs you nothing and helps keep it like it is now.

I hope you find many a frugal tip on the site that will make your trip to England even more special and enjoyable. I’d love to hear how it went or if you have suggestions for more great ways to save money. Do get in touch: info@moneysavinglondon.com
